Staff Sgt. Army Times has withheld the names of other witnesses in the investigation for privacy reasons. Stokes did not respond to Facebook messages from Army Times. That call kicked off a battalion-level investigation that, when all was said and done, found that Stokes had not only falsified his airborne certification and jump log, but that for years he had been sending false documents to the Electronic Military Personnel Office, awarding himself a Purple Heart and even a Good Conduct Medal for a period before he had enlisted.

Six days into the investigation, Stokes came in for his first interview, where he answered a list of basic questions. Unsatisfied, the investigator called him in for a second meeting, with more detailed inquiries.
In his sworn statement, Stokes denied lying about anything, claiming that he had worked at Sniper School from to and he had gone to jump school in — not , as the suspicious certificate stated. So you met this really interesting guy claiming to be an Army Ranger. However, in the rare event that the guy actually spent time in Ranger Battalion or any other Special Operations unit there are some things that you should know before bringing him home to meet your folks. The Good:. If you are not a fan of coitus may I recommend downgrading to the dude in skinny jeans that served you your skinny soy latte, or whatever the shit it is you people order at Starbucks.
He is likely in pretty good shape. Honestly he will most likely not be sporting a six pack but I assure you if you are ever hiking and break your ankle this is the guy that is going to carry you the eight miles back to the car without a second thought. If my nightly prayers ever come true and there actually is a zombie apocalypse you have a significantly better chance of survival being with this guy. The man you have your eyes on has been through countless catastrophic events and knows how to handle himself when things get really really bad.
He is protective, loyal and has no problem standing up for those who he cares about. He is punctual. Even if you have never once been on time, he will be fifteen minutes early. Members of SOF have very high expectations. These guys are accustomed to being surrounded by the best and brightest of our generation. They have very little tolerance for people doing things half-assed.

When Frank Johnson arrived in Vietnam in , he was 19, a young soldier untested in combat like thousands of others – but with two important differences: Johnson volunteered for the elite L Company Rangers of the st Airborne Division, a long range reconnaissance patrol LRRP unit, and he kept a secret diary, a practice forbidden by the military to protect the security of LRRP operations. Now, more than three decades later, those hastily written pages offer a rare look at the daily operations of one of the most courageous units that waged war in Vietnam.
Johnson served in I Corps, in Northern Vietnam, where combat was furious and the events he recounts emerge, stark and compelling: walking point in the A Shau Valley, braving enemy fire to rescue a downed comrade, surviving days and nights of relentless tension that suddenly exploded in the blinding fury of an NVA attack.

Singing is no more risky than talking when its comes to the possibility of coronavirus transmission but it all depends on how loud a person is, scientists have said. In a new study which is yet to be peer-reviewed, researchers at the University of Bristol have found that speaking and singing generate similar amounts of aerosol droplets when the sound volumes are the same.
They found that higher volume was associated with an increase in aerosol mass in both speaking and singing, with the loudest level generating up to 30 times more aerosol mass than the lowest volume. However, they said there were no significant differences in aerosol production between genders or among different genres of music such as choral, musical theatre, opera, jazz, gospel rock or pop.
Aerosols are the tiny particles of liquid and material that float around in the environment and can carry anything from smoke and dust particles to water and saliva. Recent research has suggested that Covid can be transmitted through aerosol particles, with the World Health Organisation WHO saying it could not rule out airborne transmission.

Skip to content. The history of the American Ranger is a long and colorful saga of courage, daring and outstanding leadership. It is a story of men whose skills in the art of fighting have seldom been surpassed. Only the highlights of their numerous exploits are told here. Rangers primarily performed defensive missions until Benjamin Church’s Company of Independent Rangers from Plymouth Colony proved successful in raiding hostile Indians during King Phillip’s War in Ranger techniques and methods of operation were an inherent characteristic of the American frontiersmen; however, Major Rogers was the first to capitalize on them and incorporate them into the fighting doctrine of a permanently organized fighting force.
Marion ‘s Partisans, numbering anywhere from a handful to several hundred, operated both with and independent of other elements of General Washington’s Army. Operating out of the Carolina swamps, they disrupted British communications and prevented the organization of loyalists to support the British cause, substantially contributing to the American victory. The American Civil War was again the occasion for the creation of special units such as Rangers. John S. Mosby, a master of the prompt and skillful use of cavalry, was one of the most outstanding Confederate Rangers.
